Weird Stat of the Day

It's probably no secret to anyone that Michigan Tech hasn't scored a lot of goals the past few years. In fact, I believe they had the fewest returning goals coming into this season of any WCHA team. But against Colorado College, who the Huskies will take on this weekend, the players on this year's Husky team have really struggled to put in the net.

Senior defenseman Lars Helminen has had a decent amount of success against Colorado College. He has one goal and four assists in eight career games against Colorado College. The rest of his Husky teammates have a combined total of zero goals and 1 assist lifetime against the Tigers. Tyler Shelast is the only other Michigan Tech player to register a point against Colorado College. I checked and it wasn't even a primary assist either.

The Huskies were shut out of both games they played against Colorado College last season, and in the season prior, they only scored one goal in each game of their series against CC. Three years ago, the Huskies split the series, getting shut out in one game and scoring 5 in the other.

So while Michigan Tech has been on a roll as of late, perhaps it wouldn't be wise to expect another offensive outburst this weekend when they take on a team that seems to have had their number in the past.
