Lammy Out For Sioux

North Dakota coach Dave Hakstol told Brad Schlossman of the Grand Forks Herald that starting goalie Phillippe Lamoureux "probably won't make the trip" to Mankato this weekend. That means Hakstol will have to choose between freshmen Anthony Grieco or walk-on sophomore Aaron Walski to start in goal. Neither goalie has seen any game time in their short college careers. Each goalie played about 15 minutes in their exhibition against Manitoba earlier this year. Grieco gave up a goal on 9 shots, and Walski only had to make one save.

In other Sioux injury news, Mike Forney will likely make his return to the lineup this weekend, after missing two weekends in a row due to a shoulder injury.

Jonathan Toews practiced, but did not take contact in practice. They'll probably wait until closer to game time to make that decision. I'm sure Toews is dying to get out on the ice, but Coach Hakstol has to take Toews' future into consideration. It will likely depend on if Toews is at any risk of making his injury worse. Hakstol doesn't want to risk losing his star player for a large portion of the season for one road series. I think that's wise, especially in the wake of what happened to Nate Hagemo, who rushed back to play in the World Juniors after injuring his shoulder and never fully recovered when he reinjured it. Plus, I'm sure the Chicago Blackhawks would hate to see Toews kill his career before they get a chance to kill it.
