Colorado College announced on Monday that former CC forward RJ Enga would be returning to the school as the first assistant on new head coach Mike Haviland's staff.
Enga comes back to Colorado Springs after serving the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Chicago Steel of the USHL. After graduating from Colorado College in 1995, Enga had a long pro career in the low minor leagues before beginning his coaching career. He served as a volunteer assistant coach at Colorado College for one season in 2008-2009 before heading to the junior ranks for more coaching experience. He served as an assistant with Topeka in the NAHL, before moving up to the USHL with the Steel.
In the press release announcing his hiring, Enga was quoted as saying, ""I'm from Colorado Springs and started my youth hockey career here. I went out to coach juniors to get better at the task and one day have the qualifications to come back and coach at Colorado College. I have the drive and passion for this place and I want to help get the program to where it should always be – a perennial powerhouse."
