Hockey East announced Saturday that it has suspended Northeastern senior Torin Snydeman for one game for his elbow that knocked out Merrimack goaltender Rasmus Tirronen. The one game ban falls under the supplemental discipline rule in the league's rulebook.
Snydeman was assessed a two-minute minor for goaltender interference on the play that led to a Merrimack power play goal. The Groton, Mass. native scored a power play goal of his own a few minutes later. Tirronen was forced to leave the game just 20 seconds into the contest with an apparent concussion. Here's the video of the play.
Merrimack won the game, 4-2, to improve to 8-3-1 while the Huskies fell to 1-9-1. The two teams meet again Saturday night in the series finale at Matthews Arena.
