After his team beat Providence Friday night, New Hampshire head coach Dick Umile, as well as star forward Kevin Goumas made it very clear what the objective was for the Wildcats: making it to the NCAA tournament. To get there, UNH knew going into the Hockey East tournament it would need a very strong showing, if not a championship to do so.
On Saturday night, New Hampshire will get a chance to secure a bid when it takes on UMass Lowell, as the River Hawks downed Notre Dame 4-0 in Friday night's first semifinal. Lowell is looking to defend its 2013 Hockey East championship, and the River Hawks are already a lock for the national tournament field of 16.
There might be more longterm on the line for New Hampshire, but Lowell is looking to become the second straight school in conference to repeat as champions after Boston College did it in 2011 and 2012. Here are your lines for tonight's contest.
