Freshman goalie Sam Brittain appeared to be on his way towards earning the starting goaltending position for Denver. Despite an 0-1-1 record in his two starts, he put up a stellar .951 save percentage, while sophomore goalie Adam Murray had just a .859 save percentage in two starts opposite of Brittain.
This week, Denver opens WCHA play against Wisconsin, always a very hard-fought series, and Brittain will get a golden opportunity to solidify himself as the starter. Murray went down with a groin injury in practice, which means Brittain will get his first career back-to-back starts. It should be a great test to see if Brittain has what it takes to carry the Pioneers in goal this season.
