NHL Central Scouting released their first 'Players to Watch' list for this summer's NHL Draft. They don't include the CHL, USHL, or current NCAA players for this list, so there's a lot missing, but still a look at where quite a few players are starting off the year. You can view the .pdf release here.
It was expected that this would not be a very pretty year for Minnesota HS hockey in the draft, and this continues to confirm that. Mario Lucia--Don's son for those unfamiliar--is the only 'A' rated player, while only six MSHSL player merited a 'B' rating.
Other players to earn an 'A' rating were: Yale recruit Matt Killian, Harvard goalie recruit Stephen Michalek, Cornell recruit Philippe Hudon, Harvard recruit Petr Placek, and BCHL forward Destry Straight.
Also of note, Alaska-Anchorage recruit Sam Mellor, Ohio State recent commit Sam Jardine, Minnesota-Duluth recruit Tony Camaranesi, Minnesota recruit Kyle Rau, and Michigan State recruit Tanner Sorenson all got a 'B' rating.
