St. Cloud got a commitment from Penticton Vees(BCHL) forward Joey Holka. Holka is an alum of the PF Changs AAA program in Phoenix.
The first '94 birthdates are starting to commit out west, and it looks like they're coming from the excellent Chicago Mission AAA program. The first player is Vince Hinostroza, who committed to Notre Dame for 2012. I mentioned Hinostroza this past September, and how a couple people thought he was a few pounds away from being a really excellent player. The other player off the Mission team that has committed is forward Ryan Hartman, who committed to Miami for 2013. Hartman has been his team's leading scorer through 9 MWEHL league games. Hartman and the Mission had just played in a tournament in Oxford this past weekend, where they lost 3-2 in the final to Honeybaked, who is one of the top teams in the country.
It is interesting to see these kids commit so early. They're very good players, but not necessarily of the Cam Fowler/Jack Johnson/Jon Merrill superstar variety. They might not even be the best forwards on their team, at least right now, with other talented forwards like Ray Pigozzi and Thomas DiPauli on the roster.
Michael Juola, a forward from southern California who has found a home in the NAHL committed to Brown. Another NAHL veteran, Nick Curry, committed to UMass-Lowell. Both guys were borderline USHL players, but really got to show off their offensive skillsets as top players in the NAHL instead.
Also committing to Brown was '93 brithdate Taki Pantziris, who is playing in Canada this year, but has American citizenship. You can read more about him here. Questions about the source aside, there's some decent info about him in there.
